If anyone got the game, they mess up the Gophers schedule. They have us playing at Iowa, when it should be Iowa playing here. no big deal.

I bought my copy at lunchtime. Played it a little bit. My 3 year old will love the mascot game. Played a game against MTSU, won 6-0. Encountered a bug, and 3rd and inches, I called a play action pass. Weber just took the ball and ran straight for the sideline and out of bounds. Now, I know people have complaints about Weber, but this is ridiculous. I couldn't take over control, he just kept running to the sidelines. I have a CPU vs. CPU game against MTSU running right now.

Watching a CPU vs. CPU game against MTSU. The helmets are WAY too shiny. A nit, I know, but I must pick it.

How is the overall game play? There have been a few issues in the past that have made me want to hit my Xbox with a sledge hammer! (Yet I still buy the new one every damn year!)
How is the run blocking? Do lead blockers (FB's & G's esp.) still run clear past incoming LBs in favor of CB's on the opposite side of the field?

Seems like they block the right guys to me, I'm still getting used to it after skipping NCAA 09 and 10. The gang tackling is pretty nice, but aside from the graphics, there isn't really anything that has jumped out at me yet about game play.
One thing I am looking forward to updating my rosters. I won't start my dynasty until I find one up to date with names.
TCF looks pretty nice I must say.

Yes it does, beside the Gophers on the wrong sideline. as it was pointed out a while ago.

Bought the game on the way home from work yesterday. After logging some serious hours on it, i gotta say that the game is awesome. TCF looks ridiculous, the locomotion controls feel fluid, and the ESPN presentation is loooong overdue. Plus, the game features ALL of the Gopher unis. Even Gold on Gold.

The AI has some flaws. I set it up to run a game with 15 minute quarters at MTSU. The Gophers were up by 2 with a first down at the MTSU 40, 2:00 to go and MTSU had no time outs. Instead of running the clock out on the ground, the Gophers threw a pass, which was intercepted. If the AI were even remotely good, it would have kept the ball on the ground.
The next play, MTSU throws a bomb, and the Gophers intercept. Now the Gophers get a second shot to run the clock out. The Gophers have 3rd down and snap the ball with 25 seconds left. Should be one last kneel, right? Even at pee wee level they know that. Nope, it's a pass, stopping the clock, and the Gophers have to punt. MTSU gets the ball at the 20 with 16 seconds left. MTSU throws the ball about 20 yards over the middle (itself not a wise time-protection move), and there are no defenders anywhere near, and it goes 80 yards for a TD.
So, the AI couldn't figure out how to kneel to end a game - twice - and couldn't think to run a prevent defense in that situation. I suppose they will come up with an update for it sooner or later.

One thing I noticed on an instant replay of looking around the stadium (which looks amazing BTW) was that in the ring between decks by the student section, it has the Big Ten Championships on one side, and Big Ten Championships on the other side. No mention of the National Champs teams. Also the one towards the actual location of the home bench shows us a BT Champs for like 5 of the past six years 2004-2009 or something like that. Oh well, overall though they did a very nice job, much better than the crap fake stadium they gave us last year.

This is a little complaint - the TCF crowd does a "Rah Rah Rah for Ski-U-Mah" cheer (which we don't actually do, it would be cool if we had something like that.) But they pronounce "Ski" as in "skiing", instead of pronouncing it as "sky".
They show the band marching onto the field, it would be cool if they showed the band doing the Rotating M. Too much to ask, I'm sure. :D

They can easily send updates to XBox 360 and PS3 owners. PS2 owners will probably be stuck. I'd like to trust the AI to at least make sane choices. When I start a dynasty, I will control things myself, but there will be a great number of other games that the AI will be simulating. When it's kneel down time, the AI should be smart enough to figure that out.
I do like that the game has the option to use actual local weather conditions. It didn't seem all that accurate though. I played a game at TCF, and it was mostly cloudy in the game. My house is less than 3 miles from TCF and there were only a few clouds in the sky, can't imagine it was too different at TCF. Started a game at MTSU, it was past 11pm central time, and it showed sundown at their stadium, it should have been pitch black. But it was cool that time actually passed that that it was pitch black before long.

I just picked up the game on my way home from shift and the first thing I do is go check out the roster and, like everyone else I'm sure, noticed that it is all kinds of messed up. QB for example, they have Tom Parish and J.D. Pride but no Moses Alipate. NO RA'SHEDE?!?!?!?! COME ON!!!!!
Basically every position needs to be reworked other than RB....and maybe FB if you don't think Rengel is going to stay with the team.
My favorite part of this whole thing though......is there is NO Seantrel Henderson to be found
*SMACK!!!
Anyway, I do have a couple questions. I just got my PS3 a few months ago and have never played NCAA on this platform. I noticed Zales said he is going to wait till he can update his rosters....how is this done? Is it through Playstation live? Something you have to pay for? ANY insight on this would be greatly appreciated before I go in and start moving players, adding players, deleting players!!!!!! Thanks!!!!

If the person doing the roster knows our roster well, they'll know they're missing. But I think most just look for number and position matches and go with it. You might have to create Alipate and Hageman yourself if you want them in there, or just tweak an existing player to represent those two instead of who they are right now.
I haven't really looked through our roster to know how many errors are in it. But I'll tell you what, if Duane Bennett is an impact player for us, we may be in good shape lol.

A few problems with the roster (from what I can remember - my list is at home, I'm at work):
1) Yep, no Hageman.
2) Glickstein is in there twice - once at o-line (Center?), once at DT.
3) They either left out Michel or Gjere. There's a left OT in there with size like Gjere, but Michel's number.
4) As mentioned, the QBs are messed up.
5) Yep - Rengel is in there. As is Maresh (not surprising - doubt they knew he wouldn't qualify).
6) Tinsley is an OLB.
7) No Christyn Lewis. No Kyle Henderson. There is a Nathan Tow-Arnett (not sure he'll see the field in real life - at least, not beyond special teams).
8 ) Not sure Andy Brinkhaus will see the field much, either.

Check out the forum at Operation Sports: http://www.operationsports.com/forums/ncaa-football-rosters/ for rosters, there should be some out in the next day or two. The community rosters are generally the player names, equipment fixes, player rating adjustments, and missing players.
PS3 Community Roster Thread (http://www.operationsports.com/forums/ncaa-football-rosters/421390-official-block-o-gatorbait2006nc-mzizzle2-ncaa-11-roster-thread-ps3.html)
Xbox 360 Community Roster Thread (http://www.operationsports.com/forums/ncaa-football-rosters/426145-official-update-360-community-rosters.html)
There are some people who say they have completed rosters available, but generally the community rosters are better for dynasty play.
There is also an EA employee that works on stadiums who posts in the NCAA football forum. I know every year he asks for fixes to stadiums in the game and they try to accommodate as many tweaks as they are allowed.

With the PS3, they can send out updates. With the PS2, what comes on the disk is pretty much what you're stuck with. They could at least have put in a generic horseshoe is it was really all that much work to take the stadium created for the PS3 and the 360 and put it on the PS2.
The PS2 is still a good game system, but it's going to be the poor cousin to the current systems. I might get a PS2 one of these days, because there is so many good old games that can be had for cheap.

Add me to the list of victors over USC, 14-7 in an ESPN Instant Classic. I tried to add another TD with 20 seconds left, but Troy dropped the ball in the endzone in triple coverage, oh well!
The rosters I downloaded had a few mistakes for us, and again no Rashede, so hopefully after the season starts we'll get some pretty accurate ones released.

Anything's possible, I suppose. But that's not the point, the point is that you can't assume this. I could afford a Rolex if I really wanted one. I could afford a more expensive car. But I'm not interested in impressing anyone. I could have "afforded" the PS3 when it was more expensive, I was only willing to buy it when the price dropped.

So I beat USC as well, 24-21, kind of fortunate really, I got a pick return from Johnny Johnson to start the game and then Royster returned a fumble with under 2 minutes left with USC up by 4 on me to win the game. I was outgained by like 200 yards and still won lol. It was an awesome game, tight one throughout.
The weird game though, is the next week, when I play NIU. I was up 27-7 in the 4th when things got just utterly ridiculous. I give up a long TD pass, whatever, it happens, I thought no biggie, I'll just get it back and run them over. I get the ball back and suddenly I cannot run at all after dominating them for three quarters, so I'm stopped on three downs. They drive right up the field like I didn't exist and score again. Fortunately they missed an XP so it's still 27-20 with like a little less than three minutes left. So they kick it deep hoping to stop me again. I can't remember, but I thought I got one first down, but either way it didn't matter cause then I fumble it up as I was trying to clinch the win...ugh. Of course, they easily tie it up late because suddenly my defense turns into absolute crap after holding them the first three quarters.
Long story short, 4 OTs later I won 55-53 on a MarQueis Gray 2 pt conversion run lol. I would have been utterly ticked off if I had lost that game, it was so maddening haha. I'm not a believer in the whole "CPU cheats" theory that many hold, but for that one game....wow.

You want to talk about frustrating? I had Bennett lose 4 fumbles in the Rose Bowl against Stanford. It took a late pass to Lair to tie the game, and on the next kickoff they fumbled and Theret ran it into the endzone. What does Stanford do? Drive the length of the field to tie the game with 2 minutes left. A pass to McKnight puts me up again, but I had to stop them with 30 seconds left. Just ended up winning.

I remember playing the game on my PC (when that was an option) - I think it was NCAA Football 98 if I remember right. I was running the Gophers and was playing Indiana. I had a 20 point lead late and was trying to run out the clock. I called a running play with a lateral and it was fumbled and recovered by Indiana who then scored a quick TD. No big deal - I got the ball on the kickoff and went with the "get right back on the horse" theory and called the same play. Another fumble, another quick TD for Indiana and my lead was down to 6. Well, certainly the same thing couldn't possibly happen again, right? So I called the same play and sure enough, fumble, Indiana TD, lost the game. That was the last time I played it! I just couldn't take that...
Years later, when I got NCAA 2003, I spent a bit of time learning about it (I never did much of that with the earlier one, I just learned enough to start playing) and I realize now that my RB was probably fatigued (I assume it was Hamner in a depressing reminder of the 97 PSU game) and that's why he kept fumbling it. Of course, 3 fumbles in a row with no contact? That's pretty hard to justify, no matter how tired he was!

That's pretty hard to justify, no matter how tired he was!1998 was the first year it was called "NCAA Football". Before that it was "College Football USA" and of course, "Bill Walsh's College Football". I was unstoppable with the 85 Sooners on the old Sega Genesis.

You did claim that if someone had a PS2 instead of a PS3 that it must be because they can't afford the PS3, which is an awfully absurd claim.

I found a glitch with the option play. I picked the Army (since im in the army) only other team i really play with besides gophers. anyways a couple of the option plays (not speed option) my RB would run straight to the side line and my QB couldnt pitch. This was when i made a RB for road to glory. It was really dumb. The gophers pro offense is way better then the option offense, which IMO is the worst playbook in college

It could be that Army just isn't a good team. Air Force, Navy and Georgia Tech have done pretty well with the option. If it were up to me the Gophers would be the next option team. We'd just about have our pick of fullbacks, not much room for them anymore. Then again, I won't be in charge, will I? :)
Are you saying that the option offense isn't a good offense in the video game, or not a good offense in real life football.
I have seen a bug where the QB would just run all the way to the sidelines, but I've only seen that on some play action passes. Some people have seen bugs where the QB would drop back all the way for a safety and they couldn't control it.

I had a glitch where the dude missed a FG, then he got the ball back on his own 20 first and ten. I was like WAAAAAH?

Glitches galore. A number of people have complained that if you miss an XP, and the defense fields the kick in the end zone, that the team scored upon kicks off. This is because fielding the kick causes a change of possession, and the AI assumes that the last team to have possession must be the team to kick off. They never thought that there could be a change of possession on the XP.
Just won the National Championship on Online Dynasty... Trying to actually reel in some 5 stars and 4 stars!

You make scholarship offers and schedule visits during calls to prospects. If you call someone and have never made him a scholarship offer, then one of the options is to make an offer. If a recruit is ready to schedule a visit, then that also appears as an option during the call.

Just learned a lesson: Take autosave off before simming a game against a 3-7 Northwestern team with a 10-0 Minnesota team ranked #1 (loss 14-17). Just ruined the 2nd year of my dynasty! Balls!
