Had to do a double take looking at tonight's box score and seeing that Span collected three triples tonight-a quick wikipedia perusal shows the MLB record is 4 in a game, by two players right at the end of the 19th century. I would think it was a pretty exciting night to watch him motor around the paths tonight.

Wasn't at the game, but Ordonez certainly deserves credit for two of the triples. Running right up to the wall and then letting the ball bounce back by you ain't exactly major league outifeld play.

Pretty cool, but it pales in comparison to watching the plodding Jim Thome leg out a triple thanks to a wacky bounce off of the scoreboard.

Yes, I was there with my wife and sitting next to two Tiger bedecked fans. I told my wife when he hit the second triple that you don't see that happen very often. Then he hits another one!
The scoreboard only said he tied a team record held by Ken Landreaux. I figured 4 must be the major league record, which turned out to be correct.
