I know most of you don't care about tennis, but yesterday, today and tomorrow tennis (and sports) history will have been made as American up-and-comer Jon Isner (ranked 20th in the world) is in the middle (or hopefully the end!) of the longest tennis match in history, by a LONG SHOT! Play was suspended due to darkness at 59-59 in the 5th set and 10 HOURS of play!!
To put this into context, the longest match previous to this was just over 6 hours and the longest 5th set previous to this was 21-19.
At 59-59, Isner and Mahut have played the same amount of games as 10 SETS of tennis in this set alone and 14 sets overall...and still going. The amazing stat of the match is that in 14 sets, Isner has only faced three break points the entire match.
Just incredible.
Go Isner!!

Simply amazing. I would have cramped up LONG ago and forced to quit. Their combined 193 aces is also remarkable but a prime reason why neither can break serve. It's exciting tennis but I don't know how good either is. If neither can break serve, each obviously has a major flaw. Still, the will and stamina both players have exhibited is simply amazing.

Isner certainly has some flaws, but at 6-foot-9, he has one of the biggest serves in tennis.

I only got to see a few games (thanks to Bleed informing me of this historic match) - but the last few I saw, it just appeared as they didn't have the juice to make an effort with some serves. Like they just saved their energy until there was a really important point. As physically drained as they must have been, I can't believe they mentally could both stay in it. Amazing - great for the game of tennis!

If Isner was more of a national sports figure, I would love to see a commercial featuring Isner taking on the Energizer Bunny. The slogan would be "Even the Engergizer Bunny can outlast Isner in a 5th set at Wimbledon".
