Marcus on Royce:

"Royce White is still not registered for summer school, which isn't a good sign for him joining the team this fall."

Maybe the funniest thing on earth next to watching Nolen shoot a jump shot.
Sorry, had to say it.

I've said it once, I'll say it a million times, Al Nolen can shoot. In fact, he had the second highest 3pt percentage on the team next to Hoff.

You piqued my curiosity and I had to look it up. I have to say Westbrook had the second highest 3pt %.

Marcus has a tweet about RS3's summer plans:

"Word is Ralph Sampson III is really focusing on his development this summer, working out with his dad and former MJ trainer Tim Grover."

Ok third, West with a 41% and Nolen with 39.9%, still; a lot better than people give credit for.

Well, maybe Royce can join him since apparently he trained with Grover this past winter or spring

He actually has the 5th highest and doesnt shoot 39.9%. I'm surprised you didn't take the time to look that up before confidently posting.

Don't think this is correct.. Oto, I think I already have my answer... but, Maurice - no idea - can anyone verify? Would be great news.

There is no "Maurice Walker" or "Mo Walker" or any other approximation listed on the student directory (which would be the case if he had registered for summer classes). Take that for what it's worth.

Marcus Fuller now corrects himself that not all recruits are here:

"Earlier report about all five of Tubby's recruits in summer school was incorrect. That is what I was told then, but Oto Osenieks isn't here."

"Hearing that there is something that needs to be squared away with Oto's transcript. Gophers need him becuause they're really thin at PF."

Fuller blog on Oto, Royce and HP:

Latvian recruit not in summer school yet
By Marcus Fuller on June 17

The Gophers signed Latvian native Oto Osenieks in the late recruiting period to help at small forward and power forward -- two positions where they seriously lack depth.

But the 6-foot-9, 215-pound Osenieks hasn't joined his fellow incoming freshmen in summer school this week. He hasn't been admitted yet because of an issue with his transcripts.

I'm not sure yet how long it will take to clear things up or whether this will affect his eligibility to play for coach Tubby Smith next season. But without Osenieks, sophomore Rodney Williams would be the only player on the 2010-11 roster who could play both forward spots.

Osenieks seems to think things will be fine. He told me that "everything was OK" and he should arrive in Minnesota next week.

-- I'm hearing that Kentucky is moving closer to possibly adding former Gophers freshman Royce White, but it's not a done deal. The Wildcats, I've been told, are trying to see if White could get a transfer waiver to play right away.

Even if that happens, the former Hopkins star wouldn't be eligible until the second semester because he left Minnesota without completing the spring semester. The same goes for if he wanted to return to the Gophers next season, which would make more sense because he wouldn't have to sit out a year.

According to Gophers' compliance, "Royce did not leave in good standing academically and does not meet NCAA eligibility requirements since he enrolled and attended class in the spring semester." They also said that summer school would not be enough to make White academically eligible for the fall semester. Because he's not academically eligible for the fall, he is not eligible to receive an athletic scholarship at that time.

I spoke to White's grandfather, Frank, who has heard only rumors about his grandson possibly going to Kentucky. Frank and Royce haven't spoken in a while. But Frank still wants Royce to stay home. He wants to talk to Smith again to see if there really is an opportunity for Royce to play for the Gophers next season. If not, Frank said he fully supports any decision his grandson makes to go back to school and play elsewhere.

-- The team to watch for Gophers fans in the Howard Pulley Pro-Am League this year appears to be Pat Madison Magic, which is expected to have returnees Al Nolen and Colton Iverson and new recruits Austin Hollins, Elliott Eliason and Maverick Ahanmisi on the roster. The Magic are playing Errol Carlstrom Playaz (Trevor Mbakwe and Blake Hoffarber) in their opening game at 7 Tuesday night at the Salvation Army in St. Paul.

Smith's basketball camp starts next week, so we'll see how many Gophers players show up to the first week of Pulley games. You can never predict what's going to happen each summer, especially with the newcomers.

Because he's not academically eligible for the fall, he is not eligible to receive an athletic scholarship at that time.

He could play RIGHT AWAY at JuCo or NBDL.

Students can supress their directory entries from view.

Oto is no better than 50-50 to get into school and the Gophers have moved on to possible replacements and are currently reviewing film of prospects and have several that they would consider if oto doesn't make it.

This is how Big Ten teams end up with Engen Nurumbi type players and Tubbys in africa this week.

Is this issue with the NCAA or the U Admissions office? Simply due to his international status or actual academic problems?

Are there any players left? Strange situation. Getting players on the court for this staff is a huge hurdle.

Wiskys filled their 2011 class and is working on 2012. Minnesota's still trying to find a 2 star for 2010. I give Tubby and crew about a D for effort and the same grade for results. I now understand why Vince Taylor doesn't get a head coaching job even with Tubby stumping for him. What have he (Tayor) and Tubbys kid done thats anything but average or below on the recruiting circles.

The NCAA often takes a long time to approve foreign transcripts.
