I can't imagine Tubby ever thought he'd be spending a good part of two weeks in a court room dealing with this:

Williams' lawyer was expected to cross-examine Smith Monday afternoon. Donald Chance Mark Jr., will likely try to make Smith appear more uncomfortable than the avuncular presence he has shown in court so far. Many in the courtroom chuckled as Smith told about "robbing the cradle" by dating the woman who would become his wife, who was a freshman when he was a senior at Highpoint University in North Carolina. He also had spectators laughing when he said his son, Saul, now his assistant, was teased with the nickname "Daddy's Girl," when he played for his father at Kentucky.

Wearing a tan suit, Smith often smiled and joked and looked at the jury. When a clerk sneezed, he interrupted his own testimony and said, "God bless you."

Speaking in a southern Maryland drawl, he easily told stories of his childhood as one of 17 children born to farmers who lived in a home with no plumbing. The siblings would bathe on Saturday nights in a tub. Smith said he didn't want to get out of the tub so his siblings called him Tubby. The coach also said he was plump as a child.

And his lawyer chimed in:

University of Minnesota lawyer Brian Slovut asked Smith whether the Gophers had won a national title. Smith said, no, not in basketball. "You're under oath, what year will we?" Slovut joked.
