To which I reply, thank you! I don't know if it's the ump's place to level these criticisms and I don't know that it'll change anything, but watching these squads play, particularly since they're shoved down the viewing public's throat (I get one game a week down here in Peru, the Sunday night game, can you imagine how often I'll be seeing at least one of these teams this season?), is beyond painful. Reading the comments, especially Papelbon's, just reaffirms my hatred for both squads; and reading about how Posada visited the mound eight times in one inning last playoffs makes me want to see these franchises banished to their own league, so I can enjoy watching/following the other MLB teams.

I loved it. I noticed this at least last year, if not the year before. The games these two teams play, and even many times when they play other teams, are painfully slow. It's almost unwatchable. I refuse to watch a game between these two teams.
I'm amazed at how many people I hear sticking up for them though. I didn't expect that.
Would the response be more or less overwhelming if it had come from a different source, like the Commissioner or somebody with a little more weight?

Well, Opening Night was ridiculous with all of the crap between innings and celebrity BS. They had Neil Diamond sing "Sweet Caroline" on the field in person in the 8th inning and they obviously didn't start the song until the normal commercial break was over. If I was a pitcher, I would be annoyed since it would disrupt my warm-up routine between innings.

Hard to beat the Ortiz comment to the reporters after game 2!
