This is a movie that's a bit difficult to pigeon-hole but I'd give it a thumbs up. Not sure how realistically India is portrayed (I'd hope that it's way too negatively biased) but it's a fascinating look at Indian culture from the perspectives of the director and screenplay writer.
And for Twin Cities residents -- the Grandview Theatre is like going back in time. Just before the movie started, a young man who worked there welcomed the audience and invited them to "just let us know" if anyone had any concerns or issues with the theatre, sound, comfort-level, etc. The audience gave him a nice round of applause and a few "way-to-goes" And, at the end of the movie, the same audience spontaneously clapped in appreciation.
If you live in the area and haven't been there lately, please go. It deserves the business in this day of indifferent and indistinct mega-theatres.
