Obviously there are tons of factors come tourney time, and the author essentially admits this, but for a stats guy like me I thought it was worth as read.

Interesting stuff, though I would question those in the comments section who intimate Izzo hasn't been that great during the regular season. It's not a like he hasn't won any Big Ten titles. He's won or shared 6 regular-season titles and also has 2 Big Ten Tournament championships.

If MSU lacks anything and we choose to nit-pick, it's numerous disappointing performances in the Big Ten Tournament (no title-game appearances since 2000). But Izzo has proven how little BTT performance translates to the NCAA tourney, appearing in 4 Final Fours (2001, 2005, 2009, 2010) since his last BTT title.
