First off, the McDonald's AAs practiced in CBus, Ohio for the first time today... Tomorrow, Monday, March 29 at 6:30pm[/U] on ESPN2 are the various skills competitions.. including the Jamfest... the game is Wednesday, March 31 at ~7pm central time on ESPN. There are a number of uncommitted point guards, including Brandon Knight, Josh Selby, Cory Joseph, and Ray McCallum.

The Big 10 futures include Michigan State's Keith Appling (6'2" guard; his team lost to McCallum's team in the MI championship this weekend), Illinois' Jereme Richmond (6'7" forward) and two getting more familiar with their collegiate surroundings - Jared Sullinger (6'9" big man) and DeShauan Thomas (6'7" forward). See the end of the post for the East & West rosters...

April 1-3, 2010

Some of these guys will then be off to Baltimore (Coppin State University) for the 2nd annual ESPN RISE National High School Invitational... there are various reasons why there are not some of the top schools here, including the fact that the tourney has games on Good Friday and therefore the school's headmaster of St. Benedicts (NJ) decided they would not be an option. Nonetheless, there is some good talent to look at here. For the winners, the path will be ESPNU, ESPN2 AND ESPN on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, respectively... get the DVR ready.

For us fans of the Gophers, of particular interest -
Cory Joseph - after the AA game, Findlay (#2 seed) plays around 7pm CT on ESPNU on Thursday, 4/1/10. No joke. If they win, and they should up against Charlotte Christian, they would play next on Friday at 1pm CT on ESPN2. The championship, if they make it... is at 12:30pm CT on Saturday.. ESPN

#1 Montverde (FL) is a team that I have followed a bit more than others because of Jamail Jones who is a top 100 guy and a Marquette commit... he and his buddy James Bell (another top 100 guy, Villanova bound) will need to provide the scoring to make it happen. A couple of other D-1 players also on the squad.. despite the #1 seed, they may be the third favorite behind Oak Hill and Findlay (who would meet in the semi's on the other side of the bracket).. Montverde beat Findlay, but Cory's team had a couple guys out for much of the game -- Tristan's ankle took him out. I will be cheering for Montverde,... they need to make it to the finals .. first must play... #8

#8 Montrose Christian (MD) has a Duke guy - Josh Hairston, a stud big forward... ... young Justin Anderson will be a top guy in the 2012 class. Could become scary good. Montrose is a tough squad at this point in time.

#2 Findlay (NV).. obviously the Canadians Cory and Tristan (Texas)... but, Nick Johnson the junior is a guy to check out.. he will be a top guy next year... and Godwin Okonji, a 2010 guy that some schools (including Marquette) are looking at.. they take on #7 Charlotte Christian.. .). 2010 Akil Mitchell is going to Virginia... 2011 Anthony Gill is a South Carolina commit... but Findlay should school them.. as long as the All Americans aren't too tired to play ball.

#3 Oak Hill (VA)is good.. Roscoe Smith, Doron Lamb.. ... both top 100 guys... Pe'Shon Howard, very good. They are stacked. They play #6 Mountain State Academy (WV).. Justin Martin is good, headed to Xavier... Should be Findlay and Oak Hill in the semi's.

#4 Christ School (NC).. they are 37-1, only loss to Findlay.. younger team..

#5 Winter Park (FL) ... Austin Rivers is great. 2011 kid, "kind of" committed to Florida but now the others are on him.. Duke...and now UNC is new this week. Although a 'Florida' commit, don't know where he'll end up, but for now he's playing for Winter Park and is fun to watch... he will be near the top of his class.. not a stiff like his brother who plays for that crappy team in Bloomington, IN.

Cory up in a few minutes - 3 point contest on ESPN2 right now (7pm CT Monday night)

Joseph wins the 3 point contest... 22 in the extra round against Reggie B. Niiiice

CJ

CJ looked really smooth. Good genes I guess.

Cory and Devoe in the same backcourt would pretty damn awesome!

:clap::clap::clap:

Tubby

I always like to hear tidbits about how Tubby is here or there watching some recruit. I wonder if he will be at the game Wednesday watching Cory.

I sure hope so as I would expect many coaches to be present and at this point everything we can do to tip CJ our way, we should do.

Anyone hear anything on Tubby's Wednesday schedule?

:)

Anyone hear anything on Tubby's Wednesday schedule?

Yes. Marcus Fuller tweeted that-

Tubby headed to Final 4 coaching convention in Indy today. Will he accept the Oregon offer there or turn it down and stay at Minnesota?

Marcus is really getting on my nerves.

Cory Bump

Bumped this thread to remind folks of the ESPN 7 pm central game tonight including Cory and a slew of other top-notch undecided guards.

the game is Wednesday, March 31 at ~7pm central time on ESPN. There are a number of uncommitted point guards, including Brandon Knight, Josh Selby, Cory Joseph, and Ray McCallum.

Findlay playing now on ESPNU (7pm central start time)... winner gets Mountain State (!!)... it's Montverde and Winter Park (Austin Rivers went off today) in the other semi tomorrow.. both those games on ESPN 2... Championship Saturday on ESPN.

Montverde vs. Findlay part 2 tomorrow for the championship - awesome. 12:30pm central time, ESPN.

Cory Joseph looked great for Findlay today.. and Jamail Jones (Marquette) had a heckuva performance for Montverde in the first semi's.. they lock up again tomorrow... Montverde beat an injured Findlay team 54-51 two months ago.

BTW, Shabazz Napier just gave a verbal to UCONN. He's a stud 2011 point guard.. that means both Texas (Kabongo) and UCONN now have stud point guards planning to come in for the 2011-12 season... <nudge, nudge -- Cory -- cross 'em off your list!!>

Sportscenter Top 10 for yesterday... Cory comes in at #6 with a pretty drive and layup... also Marquette's Jamail Jones grabs the #3 highlight and Marquette's Dwyane Wade is at #1.

ESPN Sportscenter Top 10 - 4/2/10

In today's game, need big days from both Jamail Jones (2010 Marquette, #22, with headband) and James Bell (2010 Villanova, #32) in order for Montverde to pull this one out.
