wow, it is not all that loud and they have to take ALL 3 timeouts. that could have serious implications towards the end of the half.

the worst part is iowa isn't even firing on all cylinders and they're pretty much in control of the game right now.......

imagine when they start getting some steam behind them.......

Overall the defense is playing well but they need to make the big tackle for loss or capitalize on one of Stanzi's weak passes!

thailleagle
11-22-2008, 06:57 PM
I'm starting to notice a very unpleasant pattern of good defense not being supported by the offense that has plagued half the season.......

We need something right here, can't keep getting killed by stupid penalties and high snaps.......

bigtenchamps1899
11-22-2008, 06:59 PM
the o-line needs to take some pride.

i think our defense likes to play with a short field.

thailleagle
11-22-2008, 07:02 PM
we must be the most penalized team in the big ten, right?

MRJ
11-22-2008, 07:04 PM
One thing we've learned over the past three weeks is that it's hard to win with one hand tied behind your back...In our case, that would refer to our offense.

You can't continually make the kinds of mistakes our offense routinely makes and then expect our defense to hold up. It just doesn't happen...kind of like the current Iowa drive:mad:

UofM Fan
11-22-2008, 07:05 PM
Unbelievable, penalties absolutely deflate this team!!

MRJ
11-22-2008, 07:06 PM
This is what happens when your best offensive player for more than a quarter is your punter.

And, oh yeah, the penalties don't help either ;)

MRJ
11-22-2008, 07:09 PM
A nice return by Stoudemire...He's had a couple of those now (despite the penalty)

Uh, oh...here comes our offense back onto the field. ( and right off the bat, ANOTHER penalty)

UofM Fan
11-22-2008, 07:09 PM
I think our best opportunity to score may come on a kick return at this point in the game.

thailleagle
11-22-2008, 07:10 PM
great return

and yet........another stupid penalty.......you can kiss this drive goodbye.......

thailleagle
11-22-2008, 07:11 PM

1st & 21........

bigtenchamps1899
11-22-2008, 07:11 PM
we are going to erase that return by troy with penalties alone!

bigtenchamps1899
11-22-2008, 07:12 PM
we have got to get decker involved.

MRJ
11-22-2008, 07:12 PM
Anyone still think we don't need to recruit some offensive players??:o

UofM Fan
11-22-2008, 07:14 PM
Who do you blame for all of these offensive penalties? Brewster, Dunbar, Phil Meyer? Offensively, I can hardly stand to watch.

MRJ
11-22-2008, 07:14 PM
If I were a defensive player right now, I'd seriously go nuts on our offensive players.

Grow a pair and get it DONE!!!!

thailleagle
11-22-2008, 07:15 PM
Decker is a great receiver.......
Green has a lot of potential.......
Pittman will be a beast.......
Weber is a very good QB when given time.......

But with a terrible O-Line we still don't know what to make of Solomon or Eskridge because they never have anywhere to go with the ball.......

The O-Line brings the performance of the entire Offense down around 40%.......

We suck right now on Offense.......

MRJ
11-22-2008, 07:18 PM
Hard to say who's at fault. Although I will say that you can only try and drill it into their heads for so long. If they can't go out and execute a plan that's been worked on for a full week, that's their fault.

So far, they players don't seem to be willing or able.

thailleagle
11-22-2008, 07:20 PM
the defense is starting to get tired.......

MRJ
11-22-2008, 07:22 PM
Defense is starting to show effects of offensive ineptitude :(

Agree with thailleagle...these offensive lineman are completely lost. They simply can't get it together for one full series.

Everyone's jobs should be open competitions starting after this game.

Agree. Overall, a pretty good year.

It's just a little disheartening that the team seems content to pack it in for the year.

Case and point why we need to recruit more talent, regardless of what side of the ball its on.

Regardless of what anyone says...I still miss our old
offense. Not sure what difference it would make tonight,
but I still miss it.

And, Cal Stoll used to say that he always had his o-line
by the third game. There is little excuse for the lack of
improvement on the o-line at this point of the season.

The best O-line coach we ever had at the U was fired.
Not saying we hire him back, but they seriously need
to find someone that can build a line as the season goes
along. It won't matter a lick who we recruit if they're
not well-coached.

In any event, Iowa fans will be more melancholic about
this game than the Gophers. We are SOOOO ready to finally
have a home field its sick. Too bad we're kinda playing
like it.

Agree with you and understand why Iowa fans are crowing.

After all, it's a rivalry right??

Anyhow, we're still really woeful on offense and our defense is paying the price.

The offense should just stay in the f---ing locker room after halftime. Adam Weber has been awful since he got injured against Indiana. Simply awful. If he can't or won't RUN, then why is he in there? As for Mike Dunbar, look buddy, if your schemes are THIS bad, it's time you retire and let someone with some ideas run the offense. I realize that we don't have overwhelming athletes on offense right now, but anyone who watched the team last year KNOWS that the offense was only successful when Weber ran the ball. Since the first possession against Indiana, how many times has Weber run? 10? 8? 11? Whatever it is, if I can nearly count that number by counting my fingers, then the scheme is WRONG.

The defense played their heart out yet again. It's too much. The defense should be better again next year...and it looks like it should be a full-out competition between Weber and Gray. All of the O-line positions should be up for grabs, and so should the running backs. Hayo Carpenter needs to be as good as advertised, and a healthy Decker, Carpenter, Green, and Brock should go a long way to being a much more solid receiving corps. As for Dunbar, Brewster should start looking for a new O coordinator. Those plays are extremely predictable and disgusting to watch. And in 3rd-and-short, it's about time we use an I formation.

As for the refs, nice SPOTS for Iowa on their first 3 drives. Holy hell! I realize there are 20,000 Pigs there grunting at you, but really, can you even attempt to be fair? One thing I'd really like to see when we get out of the Dome is some fairer reffing. I cannot recall even one single instance where the refs helped us win a game. What good is a home field if the refs f--- you anyway?

Wow, where do I begin?

What a fitting way to end the dome era. It's almost like the dome itself wants to get a few last good shots before the gophers move on. At this point I'm disappointed in the coaches. The gophers look EXACTLY like they did 4 games ago. Nothing has changed, nothing has improved.

??

Serious??

They have more talent than us right now, but to say they have a lot of talent is bordering hilarious. Iowa blew some games early, also got a gift against Penn State with the weather and Penn State beating themselves, etc. Basically, Iowa is as good as their record is - better than average.

A defense of 70 year old ladies could stop our offense right now. In fact, if Iowa didn't even put any players on the field I doubt we could run for a touchdown without tripping. Iowa is doing nothing better than anyone else the past 4 weeks has done to us; except that Shonn Greene is a beast and Stanzi has made some amazingly lucky getaways.

As a Badger fan, I can attest that weird things happen in the Dome. Sometimes it is good for the home team and sometimes good for the opponents. Not having watched this game, I can't say whether there were weird plays or Iowa was just better (they were certainly better than UW in Iowa City). Nonetheless, the rest of the Big Ten joins you in saying "Good Riddance" to that dump of a college stadium.

I look forward to playing Minnesota in an on-campus, outdoor setting.
