Allen is better, but politics do matter in sports.

Cobbs showed some very good defensive ability on Battle.
I couldn't believe it when he let the clock run out. He had simply made up his mind that he would not shoot. He two chances to get a shot off. I hope this lesson improves his awareness.

Cobbs is the best defending guard on this team right now.

I am surprised at this post after this game. he played pretty well! Cobbs has a lot more pressure on him as a Frosh now with Nolen's absence. he is doing respectably.

Clearly he was our best defender against Battle, that is why Tubby gave him the minutes toward the end. If he was willing to act a little he mightve drawn a charge or two.

This is a twofer.
1. Why would you think Allen is better having seen him on the floor for about 60 seconds this year ?
2. "but politics do matter in sports" What does that mean?

Cobbs played lockdown D on arguably the most dynamic guards in the Big Ten. Count me as one who was very impressed. Offense will come for him, but right now, there are just better scoring options; he knows his role on the team.
Battle couldn't get away from him if there was no screen. That's what separates him from Joseph on D.

I thought it was pretty funny before the season when so many people on here claimed that Cobbs would replace Nolen midway through the season.

He showed a lot better D than they play in the Horizon League.

I can't complain about a guard that passes to a "big" too often. Yes, Colt had a few issues today, but going inside to the resident "big" usually seems like a good idea.
More often we complain about the guards not feeding the "bigs" enough!
Cobbs did OK today IMHO. Obviously Tubby thought so as he had him on the floor at the end in defensive spots.

Cobbs showed today that he wasn't "Horizon League" on defense...now, if we could just get him to put as much effort into his jump shot as he puts into his hair, we're in business!!!
He is quick and plays tough defense. He is going to be a productive point guard in the future.

By now, shouldn't Millions of Missed Layups be throwing out some insults?
