and he doesn't have a publisher for the book that he is trying to write. Maybe beej will hire him.
But that leads me to one of my wishes for 2009 and beyond. I hope that Bush's post presidential earnings are below miniscule. He and his people have damaged the Republic tremendously and for him to profit from his decisions is immoral.

Hand Gonzalez a bail out.
>>He and his people have damaged the Republic tremendously and for him to profit from his decisions is immoral.<<
The man's been trashed for years now, sometimes fairly, sometimes not. He should at least be given a chance to try to explain his decisions in context.
>>He and his people have damaged the Republic tremendously...<<
A bit over the top maybe? Many of his more vocal opponents don't even know what a Republic is.
>>...for him to profit from his decisions is immoral.<<
Outrageous perhaps, but probably not immoral.

I agree. Outrageous is a more appropriate word than immoral.

I don't think many of his supporters know either.

Zales,
You might be right, but I believe the evidence points toward fewer Americans recognizing that this nation is actually a republic and not a pure democracy...and far fewer understanding what a republic is and how it's meant to operate.

I completely agree with you. I've heard the US called a representative democracy more than anything. I wonder what the forefathers of the nation would think of the government now!
Just looking at the challenged ballots from the senate race is depressing. I can't believe so many people can't properly mark a ballot.
I've always wondered what happens to public figures that make massive blunders that get them fired/forced to resign. How can you find another job if so many people know about your screw ups/failures? I suppose there is always public speaking.

Alberto should be in prison, not worrying about a job.

So charge him with something and make the charges stick.
