Boys' basketball: Bishop Montgomery wins in San Luis Obispo
Bishop Montgomery once again proved why it's considered one of the best teams in SoCal on Wednesday night, defeating Arlington (Va.) Bishop O'Connell, 65-58, in the national division championship game of the San Luis Obispo Mission Prep tournament.

Justin Cobbs, who signed with Minnesota last month, led the Knights with 23 points and was named the tournament MVP. Teammate Michael Panaggio had 16 points as Bishop Montgomery (11-1), ranked No. 11 by The Times, outscored Bishop O'Connell by seven points in the fourth quarter.

No. 7 Taft (6-2) claimed third place with a 55-46 victory over No. 9 Campbell Hall (6-2). Michael Williams and Justin Hawks each netted 17 points for the Toreadors and Deuce Johnson led the Vikings with 13 points.

UCLA-bound Tyler Honeycutt finished with 14 points and six blocks as Sylmar claimed seventh place in the national division with a 71-61 win over Sacramento Sheldon.

Good to hear. We may have found a real gem with him. It will be interesting to see how things pan out during Nolen's senior season (I'm assuming Cobbs won't take Nolen's spot as a true freshman).

I highly doubt anybody will be taking Nolen's starting spot the entire time he is here.

Can I fourth that statement, or is that just tacky?

And I'll make it a sixth!!!:)

But even having said that, I would be surprised if Cobbs doesn't turn out to be pretty good himself.

Aye! Cobbs may be a gem, but Nolen already is one! That being said, I'm feeling better and better about the Cobbs signing, I was a little up in the air about it at first. It's essiential to have a good back up point guard in case of foul trouble or injuries.
